Electrical current throughout India is 220-240 AC. Using most American electrical appliances that run on 110-120 AC will require a converter. There are several types of electrical sockets so multiple plugs will be needed. In India, the socket adaptor has two round prongs. There are two types of socket adaptors with round prongs; make sure you get the right size. If you plan to bring your laptop, you will need the correct adaptor; also be sure that the machine’s cable can handled 220-240 volt (all Apple power cables can). Any applianced that has the purpose of generating heat, such as a blow dryer, you are better off buying in India. For recharging film batteries, or for razors, or other simple appliances, an adaptor and converter will be sufficient (and necessary).
