II Helpful Resources: Links

It will be extremely helpful to you to spend some time listening to and learning about the Tibetan language before you arrive in India. It will be helpful to know basic phrases and to learn the alphabet.

In addition, you are required to read the book Echoes from Dharamsala by Keila Diehl (U of California P1998) before the program begins. This will serve as a foundation for the Tibetan History and Culture class. You need to have a version of this book along with you, either in paperback (ISBN 9780520230446) or an ebook edition from U of California Press (http://www.ucpress.edu/book.php?isbn=9780520230446).
